BMI View: Victory in El Salvador's fast approaching presidential election, scheduled for March 2009, is still very much up for grabs. Certainly, a revitalised Frente Farabundo Martà para la Liberación Nacional (FMLN) opposition party has canvassed enough popular support to take the honours at the ballot box. However, the ruling Alianza Nacionalista Republicana (ARENA) has also adopted a more moderate stance ahead of the vote, which we believe may could yet swing the contest in its favour.
