Unemployment in Brazil remains on an overall downward trajectory, even with the jump in the unemployment rate to 8.1% in July, from 7.8% in the previous month. Looking at the 12-month moving average, Brazil's unemployment rate has been declining since March 2007 and hit 8.4% in July, down from 9.2% in January. The ongoing longer-term tightening of Brazil's labour market reflects the robust performance of the Brazilian economy over the past few years, with job creation firmly on the rise.
