Paraguay's president-elect Fernando Lugo has named former leftist militant, Miguel Lopez Perito, to be the head of his Cabinet when he takes office on August 15.Lopez Perito was one of the leaders of a leftist military political organisation, which plotted to overthrow the dictatorship of General Alfredo Stroessner in the mid-1970s. While Lugo's choice may be seen by some as a sign that he is moving increasingly leftist and potentially in the footsteps of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez, we do not read too much into this development.
