The New York-based Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID) has issued a damning assessment on the state of Guyana's governance, with particular attention focussing on opposition leader, Robert Corbin, declaring him 'ineffective and lack[ing] a vision for the country'. While criticising the ruling People's Progressive Party (PPP) for its 'ineptitude', the CGID puts a large measure of blame on the opposition for not only not having the policy ideas to challenge the government and hold it to account, but also not having the dynamism to help drive political reform.
