Restoring public confidence and trust in the credibility of statistics agency INDEC 's data is absolutely essential if the government's anti-inflationary strategy is to succeed. While the introduction of a new, US-style methodology is a step in the right direction, the lack of open debate on the matter, combined with ongoing concerns over government interference at INDEC will ensure suspicions persist for some time.
