BMI View: In a contest that was as close as had been advertised, Álvaro Colom of the UNE beat Otto Pérez Molina of the PP in the second and decisive round of the Guatemalan presidential elections on November 4. The big question for Colom, and for the economy and business environment of Guatemala, is whether the domestic security situation can be ameliorated.
