It would rank as the most improbable political comeback story yet imagined: Jean Claude 'Baby Doc' Duvalier said in September he was ready to return to Haiti after 21 years in exile in France. While he may in fact return, we see a political revival of Duvalierism as highly improbable. The former Haitian 'president for life' who has lived in France for 21 years since he was ousted by a popular rebellion in 1986, broke years of silence with a radio address asking for 'forgiveness' for any wrongs that might have been committed during his rule.
