Nicaragua's Supreme Court suspended three senior judges on July 3 after they acquitted three men of cocaine trafficking charges. The court ordered an investigation into the judges, who are on the Nicaraguan appeals court - one step below the Supreme Court - after they ruled there was not enough evidence to convict the suspected drug traffickers. The investigation sends a positive signal regarding the Nicaraguan government's attitude towards cleaning up the country's judicial corruption, and also demonstrates their willingness to combat the drug trafficking problem.
