Mario Salazar Escobar, a cousin of the former regional director of Chiledeportes (a state sports agency), confessed to authorities that he had been involved in the scandal engulfing the agency, which involved the misuse of public funds. Escobar admitted to having managed a false sports club, while having been involved with two other projects.
