As a result of El Salvador's commitment to good governance and to building the necessary institutional framework for aid funds to be used effectively, the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has provided the country with US$461mn worth of aid. The MCC is the largest provider of US foreign aid for anti-poverty programmes in developing countries, and has approved this aid agreement with El Salvador over a five-year period.
