Guyana's total outstanding debt amounted to US$1.05bn in Q106 (almost 124% of GDP), decreasing by 1.2% y-o-y. About 88.3% of the debt is owed to multilateral institutions, but despite debt relief of US$65mn provided by the IMF under the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative, we forecast that external debt will reach a year-end level of US$1.15bn in 2006.
