Barbados' nominal fiscal deficit amounted to BBD207mn in the fiscal year 2005-06 7mn (up by 44.5% y-o-y) and exceeded the projections made in the 2005-06 budget by more than 43%. The island's fiscal position has significantly worsened since the second quarter of FY 2006-06, which is mainly a result of increased capital expenditure in light of the up-coming Cricket World Cup (CWC) in 2007.
