Bermuda's political environment is dominated by the forthcoming elections. Alex Scott, the current premier and leader of the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) will end his term this October unless he is re-elected. Both Ewart Brown and Paula Cox may challenge Scott's leadership. Brown, a man well versed in politics, with a reputation for getting things done has had his eye on the post ever since Jennifer Smith was ousted before Scott took office. Paula Cox, a part time politician, might also contend the leadership, but according to commentators, she would rather wait for Premier Scott to step down than stage
