A survey conducted by Caribbean Development Research Services in September suggested that the ruling People Labour Party's (BLP) support level has increased significantly over the past year. 36% of interviewees said that, if the elections were held now, they would vote for the BLP, compared to 29% in 2005. Also the approval ratings of the BLP's leader, Owen Arthur, have grown, rising to 49% in 2006 from 33% in 2005.
