The government announced plans to restructure its sugar industry, which could potentially face a 36% reduction in sugar prices over the coming three years because of a change to EU's sugar protocol. In order to compensate for the price cut, the government will push for a new law that will increase the amount of land dedicated to sugar cultivation to 31,000 acres over the next 25 to 30 years.
