Following the ousting of former economy minister Roberto Lavagna, President Néstor Kirchner met with Hugo Moyano, the head of Argentina’s largest trade union (the Confederación General del Trajabo, CGT). The CGT has been lobbying for an increase to the minimum wage, a policy to which Lavagna was opposed. With Lavagna out of the picture, Kirchner appears to be taking a more active role in economic policy, especially in addressing issues related to socio-economic inequality
