BMI View: Puerto Rico's general elections are scheduled for November 2012, and as things stand, we believe Alejandro García Padilla from the opposition has a slight advantage to take the governorship. His position on the island's political status, opting to maintain Puerto Rico as a commonwealth of the US, combined with the high levels of unemployment experienced during the current administration could give García an edge in the elections.
