Panama and Colombia announced a new agreement for increased intelligence sharing on March 27. As part of the deal, Colombian security forces will train Panamanian officers in aerial intelligence collection and border protection. Additionally, Colombian security officials will share their intelligence on suspicious aircraft to tackle an increase in traffickers transferring drugs across the Panamanian border by air. We believe this is a positive sign of increased cooperation to address the rising power of drug traffickers in the region.
