Cash Shortage: Implications

BMI View: The inability of the Argentine monetary system to meet demand for cash reinforces our view that inflation is rapidly running out of control. As well as raising renewed questions about official inflation reporting and economic policy, consumers' inability to withdraw cash from ATMs is likely to raise political tensions just nine months ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections.
