President Saca: Crime Fighter?

BMI View: El Salvadorean President Tony Saca marked his halfway point in office in January 2007 (his five-year term began in July 2004) with an address to the nation. He hailed the country's strong economic growth over the first 2½ years of his presidency, and said he would devote the next 2½ years to fighting the country's notorious violent crime problem. We think this is the correct priority.
