PPP Deals Unlikely To Jump-Start Growth

BMI View: We believe that the Puerto Rican government's decision to initiate a programme of public-private partnerships is unlikely to alter the island's weak growth outlook significantly. Furthermore, with the administration of Luis Fortuno announcing plans to issue US$7.2bn worth of debt in 2010, we caution that the programme is unlikely to fulfil its second aim of improving the island's precarious public debt position.
