2011 Election Wide Open

BMI View: We expect the death of former President Néstor Kirchner to have little impact on policy ahead of presidential elections set for October 2011, with President Cristina Fernández committed to seeing through her husband's political agenda. While we hold to our view that the opposition remains well placed to prevail in next year's vote, we caution that it will need to identify candidates quickly if it is to mount a serious challenge to Fernández's rule.
