Moving Towards Fiscal Stability
December 2010 | Economic AnalysisBMI View: While not in the same fiscal fix as other Caribbean economies, we believe that the Bahamas' public accounts are in need of rebalancing if the islands' fiscal stability is to be maintained. On this front, the government's commitment to consolidation is encouraging, although we believe its target of reducing the fiscal deficit to just 1.6% of GDP by 2012/13 is overly optimistic.
