Macroeconomic Forecast Barbados
February 2011 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: Barbados's industrial production index continues to reflect the poor state of the domestic economy, posting a contraction of 7.5% year-year (y-o-y) in October, down from 4.7% y-o-y in September. While we expect the rate of decline to slow as economic activity starts to pick up moderately in 2011, we see little prospect of a major uptick in industrial output any time soon, and forecast very moderate industrial production growth of 2.5% y-o-y come end-2011.
