No Sign Of Détente Yet

BMI View: Any improvement in El Salvador's deeply divided political landscape remains a long way off following accusations that the opposition was planning a coup. While signs that crime is falling bode well both for President Funes' popularity and the country's investment appeal, we caution that political instability will continue to see the country lag behind Costa Rica and Panama in the face for foreign investment.
