Dollarised Economy Under Threat By End-2010

BMI View: Ecuador is fast running out of ways to fund what we project to be a second consecutive current account shortfall in 2010. Without a significant increase in exports or another drastic slowdown in import growth, foreign reserves will come under increasing pressure towards end-2010, again raising questions over the sustainability of the country's dollarised economy.
