Some Hope For Fiscal Situation
February 2011 | Economic AnalysisGuatemala registered a record fiscal deficit in 2010, when the cumulative shortfall reached GTQ21.1bn as expenditure continued to expand at a faster rate than revenue. However, tax reforms planned for 2011 and ongoing support from the IMF give some cause for optimism regarding the outlook for the country's depleted public accounts over the longer term.
