Sovereign Debt Looking Weak
February 2011 | Economic AnalysisBMI View: We believe the re-pricing of sovereign risk towards the Caribbean region has largely run its course and that the scope of further yield compression in bond spreads over US Treasuries term is limited. The region's weak growth outlook compared to Latin American counterparts means a sell-off in spreads is a distinct possibility over the next two years, with Jamaica most at risk from significantly higher borrowing costs.
