The results of the governorship elections in the state of Guerrero offer the first major question mark over the opposition Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI)'s electoral hopes for the 2012 presidential ballot. With preliminary results suggesting a comprehensive victory for the left-wing Partido de la Revolución Democrática, and a similar result looking likely in the Baja California Sur elections, the PRI may be somewhat concerned that its support base is waning.
