BMI View: Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli must act decisively to stamp out the corruption scandal currently engulfing key public officials if he is to prevent further deterioration in popular support. Failure to act would also spell bad news for his democratic credentials, although he will have to go some lengths to convince large swathes of the electorate that he is committed to stamping out corruption in public life.
