Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has directed top Sandinista legislator Rene Núñez to reprint the country's constitution during a public holiday he personally declared. The most significant amendment is the reappearance of an old provision, which allows public officials whose terms have expired to remain in office until the posts are filled. The move is expected to benefit the president by enabling him to retain 25 of his top officials whose terms have officially expired.
