Despite the ongoing slowdown economic activity, Brazil's labour market continues to tighten, with a further 299,415 government-registered jobs created in August, the highest on record for that month. This in turn, prompted a fall in unemployment to just 6.7%, the lowest since the current series began in 2002. While this data certainly paints a bright picture of the strength of Brazil's recovery, we caution that a breakdown of new jobs created is less encouraging.
