BMI View: President Daniel Ortega's re-election bid is eroding the legitimacy of Nicaragua's democratic institutions, and will continue to weigh on the country's business environment and political risk profile in the run up to next year's elections. Lack of unity among the centre-right opposition implies that despite low popularity levels Ortega is still favourite to win the November 2011 ballot.
