Renewed Diplomatic Ties No Panacea

BMI View: We believe Colombia's diplomatic relationship with Venezuela will remain fragile so long as the dispute over alleged Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) presence in the latter goes unsolved. Although we cannot rule out a dramatic and sudden deterioration of diplomatic relations, the prospects for a restoration in commercial ties are likely to hold off such a development for the time being.
