Thompson's Absence Raises Fiscal Fears

We believe that Barbadian Prime Minister David Thompson's ill health could prompt a temporary cooling off in fast-deteriorating relations between the island's two main political parties. That said, we caution that if Thompson is unable to resume his full duties in the short term, a prolonged period of political uncertainty would call into question the government's ability to realise its ambitious fiscal consolidation targets.
