PRI Set To Extend Power In State Elections

BMI View: We expect the PRI to win a resounding victory in the July state elections, which will help boost their chances of winning the general elections in 2012. An extension of PRI power at the state level would also further erode governability at the federal level, in our view, making it very hard for the government to make progress on necessary fiscal, energy or labour market reforms.
