BMI View: We expect President Hugo Chávez's destructive economic policies to undermine efforts to boost Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV)'s electoral support in the run-up to Venezuela's legislative elections, scheduled for September 26. However, with almost unlimited access to the state coffers, we believe the PSUV will be able to limit the extent of the opposition's comeback, with negative implications for the country's economic and political outlook.
