Failing Economy More Important Than Santos Politics

BMI View: We expect a continuation of Venezuela's poor diplomatic relations with Colombia following Juan Manuel Santos's landslide victory in the latter's presidential election. However, with the economic situation in Venezuela only set to deteriorate over the medium term, the necessity to restart cross-border trade flow with its western neighbour may force an end to the ongoing trade embargo, in our view.
