Tourism Will Suffer From Violence
June 2010 | Ratings UpdateThe House of Representatives in Jamaica has resumed a debate of six anti-crime bills first proposed back in 2008, and although likelihood of their success is questionable due to a previous lack of consensus, given the recent events in Kingston, it is possible that the vote may swing in favour of the proposers. While these measures are likely to be viewed more favourably by investors, in comparison to the use of the armed forces to combat the rising crime rate, we are not convinced they will have a significant impact on reducing crime.
