Export Sector To Drive Recovery
May 2010 | Economic AnalysisSuriname looks set to post a relatively robust recovery following 2009's downturn, as the ongoing uptrend across the global commodities complex helps buoy growth in the export-dependent economy. While timely and accurate data is relatively sparse, we nevertheless believe that the South American state experienced its first recession since 2000 last year, with real GDP estimated to have contracted 0.5%.
