Closer Ties With Brazil
May 2010 | Ratings UpdateJamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding has been invited by Brazil's President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva to lead a private sector delegation to the South American country, after the two met recently in Brazil to discuss greater bilateral trade between the two countries. Sectors which look ripe for closer integration are energy (specifically biofuels, oil and natural gas), agriculture and health. Greater bilateral cooperation with Brazil would be a distinct positive for Jamaica, which we believe is set to suffer from subdued demand in both the US and Europe in the latter stages of 2010 and into 2011.
