Rate Hike Reaffirms Confidence In Economy

The decision to pre-empt inflation and begin hiking interest rates in Peru on May 6 reflects the central bank's confidence in Peru's strong economic outlook in the near term. With concerns of 'hot money' flows likely mitigated by a global investor flight to safety and more aggressive tightening in Brazil, conditions are favourable for Peru to begin normalising monetary conditions.
