Costa Rican president-elect Laura Chinchilla is already busying herself with closer regional integration and a concerted effort to tackle organised crime in Central America before assuming office. Though the challenge remains immense, we believe that her early emphasis on a coordinated dialogue on the key challenges facing the region certainly augurs well for any prospect of success.
