New US Ambassador

In late March President Daniel Ortega announced his appointment of fellow Sandinista member Francisco Campbell as the country's new ambassador to the US. Campbell is a former ambassador to a number of African countries, with roots in the Caribbean coast. Although the appointment still needs clearance from the National Assembly and US Congress the initial signals domestically appear positive, including by the erstwhile US ambassador Arturo Cruz Jr.
