Fiscal Concerns Continue To Rise In 2010

BMI View: Low public-debt to GDP levels in Guatemala mean we are not overly concerned about a significant uptick in short-term borrowing to cover the record fiscal gap. However, with little hope of an improvement in the fiscal imbalances under President Álvaro Colom's centre-left administration, we are concerned that the fiscal picture will deteriorate rapidly by the September 2011 general elections.
