January 2010 | Ratings UpdateRegardless of February's electoral outcome, we see little risk of a deterioration in Costa Rica's short- or long-term political risk ratings going forward. Out of all the Central American states, the country comes second only to Panama in our short-term political risk ratings, with a healthy score of 72.9 (well above the regional average of 80.0). More significantly, it comes top in the region in our long-term political risk ratings, with a score 73.8 well above the regional average of 55.1.
