Sabres Rattling, But Military Conflict Unlikely

BMI View: Tensions between Venezuela and Colombia remain heightened, due to the formers' belligerent rhetoric and recent destruction of bridges straddling the border. Although the risks of a confrontation have risen, we maintain the view that outright military conflict is improbable, given underlying economic interdependencies and likely mediation efforts by other regional powers.
