Downgrade Clears Road For Peso Strength

BMI View: Now that talk of a downgrade has passed for the time being we believe the Mexican peso is set for a period of steady appreciation over the medium term. Although we remain cautious towards Mexico's fundamentals, failure of the peso to appreciate in line with other regional currencies this year, combined with its growing resilience of late, points to upside potential for the unit against the dollar.
