Mia Mottley has been confirmed as leader of the opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) after a vote on October 26. The party will hope that her victory will bring to an end the months of infighting which have dogged the party since it lost control of government in January 2008. However, with her BLP rival, former Prime Minister Owen Arthur failing to attend the announcement of Mottley's win, it appears that the divisions are set to remain.
