Markets Overestimate Political Will

Markets have sent Argentine bonds flying on the back of what appears to be a revised stance by the government towards the IMF and international creditors, with the latter still holding the sovereign's defaulted bonds. Although we believe that the authorities are now running out of options and will seek to regain access to international credit markets, we question whether the political will to revamp economic data reporting is sufficiently in place.
